Yorkshire Dance’s Dance On programme is delighted to present a special flash mob performance in The Broadway Shopping Centre, Bradford on Friday 8th March 2024 to celebrate International Women’s Day. Shoppers will be invited to join in with members of the Dance On group or come along as a spectator and enjoy either of the two five minute performances at 12pm and 12.30pm.

International Women’s Day is a global holiday to celebrate the cultural, political and socioeconomic achievements of women and this year celebrates the theme Inspire inclusion. The boundary-breaking Dance On programme for older people challenges perceptions around dance and age across Bradford and Leeds, mostly aimed at women from low socioeconomic areas. It is a warm and welcoming space for participants over the age of 55 years to express themselves through dance, exercise and meet new friends.

Ian Ward, General Manager at The Broadway, said: “We are looking forward to welcoming back the flash mob into the Centre again to celebrate International Women’s Day. This is the fourth time the performance has appeared in the Centre and it is a great opportunity to support both Yorkshire Dance and Dance On.”

Dance On participants across Bradford and Leeds have been rehearsing a short routine in their weekly classes. The general public are also encouraged to come along and join in, free of charge. Participants do not need to have any dance or performance experience to get involved and show off their moves and can learn the routine from a video beforehand here.

This is also a great opportunity to come and find out more about Dance On and meet the individuals involved in the group. This event will celebrate a wide range of dance abilities and prove that people are never too old or inexperienced to try something new.
