bbodance, formerly the British Ballet Organization, is a dance awarding organisation offering multi-genre syllabi, examinations, teacher training and inspiring events. They have an international presence with branches in Australia, New Zealand and teachers in various countries all over the world. They also just celebrated their 95th anniversary, so it’s an exciting time to be involved with bbodance. 

bbodance are proud that their membership has always been open to teachers from varied backgrounds and they continue to invite new teachers to join them, regardless of where they have trained previously. If you are a qualified teacher with another organisation, don’t worry! They accept and encourage applications from teachers with varied qualifications, including those from the RAD, ISTD and IDTA. bbodance is recognised by Ofqual and Qualification Wales, meaning you can invest in your future with complete peace of mind.

Members benefit from a robust framework specifically designed to protect learners, including independent oversight of our qualification development, assessment, and awarding processes. This ensures fairness, consistency, and validity every step of the way. The organisation has a warm, family feel, with generations of teachers staying with bbodance, and new teachers being welcomed with open arms by staff and existing members as well.

bbodance offers recognised qualifications and syllabi across 6 dance genres: Classical Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Modern, Musical Theatre and AcroDancer. They believe training across multiple dance styles is hugely beneficial to aspiring dancers, providing them with transferrable skills and adaptability to whatever their training exposes them to in the future.

Access to the written syllabus, syllabus films and additional teaching aids are INCLUDED in membership, meaning that just one membership payment covers everything you need to teach our syllabi for that year. Teachers receive special discounts on CPD and events, held both in person and online. The variety of training provided is designed to support teachers as they deliver the syllabus, as well as helping them to build their businesses and stay up to date with the latest industry practices.
