Sadler’s Wells in February: Pina Bausch's Sweet Mambo makes its London premiere and the Peacock Theatre is taken over by tutus

Sadler’s Wells kicks off the month of February with Pina Bausch’s Sweet Mambo performed by Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch from Wednesday 11 February – Saturday 21 February. First staged in 2008, the legendary choreographer’s penultimate work makes its long-awaited London premiere at Sadler’s Wells Theatre. Bausch’s dancers-turned-collaborators bring years of experience, influenced by their own personal recollections, to communicate in movement what can’t be said in words.
In 2026 the Peacock Theatre marks 30 years of presenting dance and variety performances as part of Sadler’s Wells; these celebrations begin in February with the return of two favourite productions.
Chicos Mambo presents TUTU from Wednesday 11 – Saturday 21 February. A hilarious dance journey, choreographed by Philippe Lafeuille where incredible dance skills and inventive parody intertwine, featuring an all-male cast of six dancers. From Tuesday 24 - Saturday 28 February Spain’s award-winning theatre company Yllana brings The Opera Locos. World-class singers combine physical comedy, opera classics, and pop hits in this vibrant comic opera experience, an accessible alternative to traditional opera.
Available on Sadler’s Wells Digital Stage is Behind the curtain with the Company of Elders, a new film featuring the company in rehearsal at Sadler’s Wells for their performance, The Real Me, in the Lilian Baylis Studio last October. The Real Me was inspired by the Sadler’s Wells, Universal Music and Extended Play production Pete Townshend’s Quadrophenia, a Mod Ballet and is choreographed by cast member Euan Garrett. The company talk about how the music of this era connects with their memories and their first-hand experience of 1960s culture.
