Narthana 2025, the fourth annual cultural production by Kandyan Dancers Company, took place at the Shaw Theatre, King’s Cross, to a full house. The event brought together a rich tapestry of traditional Sri Lankan dance and music, spotlighting classical, folk, and contemporary interpretations performed by a diverse group of dancers rooted in the island’s heritage.

Led by choreographer, teacher and author Dilini Seneviratne, Narthana has grown into a much-anticipated platform that not only showcases the beauty of Sri Lankan performing arts, but also supports meaningful causes. This year, KD Co. chosen charity to support - Sahana based in Sri Lanka focuses on early childhood education, school meal programmes, palliative care and healthcare infrastructure in Sri Lanka.

The production featured original choreography, live traditional drumming, and ceremonial moments, connecting audiences to Sri Lanka’s cultural depth while fostering a space for new generations of diaspora artists to take part in its preservation and evolution.

As with each edition of Narthana, the show served as both a celebration and a commitment-honouring tradition, giving back to the community, and building cultural bridges through the performing arts.
