Evolution, presented by YDance, is an exclusive triple bill performance uniting Scotland and Estonia’s next generation of talent, pushing dance boundaries and celebrating cultural and contemporary dance.

This international collaboration features the National Youth Dance Company of Scotland, choregraphed by Anna Kenrick and directed by Philippa Clark, who will present “Weave” exploring what individual differences we all can make in the world. The ETA Kompanii (Estonian Dance Agency) based in Tallin, Estonia, will premiere a new quartet exploring our connection with social media. The 2025 Project Y Evolution Company, choregraphed by acclaimed artists Dr. Mitul Sengupta and Dr. Shambik Ghose from Rhythmosaic Dance Company, focuses on the fusion of Kathak and Contemporary dance in this brand new commissioned work.

Audiences will experience a rare opportunity to engage with a performance that pushes artistic innovation, has work at the intersection of classical Indian dance and contemporary dance, pushes creative limits and celebrates diversity.

Come see the next generation of dancers take to the stage in this captivating and powerful triple bill.

YDance

YDance (Scottish Youth Dance) is the national dance organisation for children and young people in Scotland. YDance works through key partnerships in education, culture, health and sport, to provide a range of high-quality dance experiences and their vision is to offer every child and young person in Scotland the opportunity to realise their potential as individuals through dance.

Performers

National Youth Dance Company of Scotland (NYDCS). YDance (Scottish Youth Dance) formed this flagship contemporary dance company for exceptional young dancers aged 16 to 21 in 2011. The company works with Anna Kenrick (YDance Artistic Director) to explore, create and perform new work, both nationally and internationally.

ETA Company has grown out of the educational and performance project of graduates of the ETA Dance School operating within the Estonian Dance Agency. The company's goal is to provide young dancers the opportunity for professional development and an outlet in the landscape of contemporary dance art; as well as bring together young dance professionals and various choreographers and directors to collaborate and create high-quality dance experiences.

Project Y Evolution is a dynamic summer performance for dancers aged 16–25, designed to bridge the gap between youth and professional dance.

People often ask me how I ended up working in entertainment and truthfully, it’s been a long windy path; but I started my journey with YDance back in 2008 when I participated in Project Y Evolution and then went on to be a member of the NYDCS. Alongside the obvious dance training, YDance provided me with escapism, a sense of community and they believed in me which has undoubtably had a positive impact on my life and career.” - Our patron Robyn Richford: TV and radio presenter on ITV’s hit morning show Scrambled and her radio show on Capital Scotland FM

Project Y Evolution is a site for an artistic transformation that empowers you to be in the world and stand out creatively with humility, grace and poise.'' - Dr. Shambik Ghose: Rhythmosaic researcher, choreographer, and performance maker.
