DIARY:

6-10 July

The Playground Tour in partnership with The Place in London, brings world class live dance from world class choreographers Lea Anderson (UK) and Rotem Weissman (Germany) straight into primary school playgrounds across Crawley. The performances are for pupils and staff from partner schools, Seymour Primary School, Broadfield Primary Academy, Waterfield Primary School, Northgate Primary School and Bewbush Primary Academy

BUG by Lea Anderson
Created in collaboration with choreographer and performer Lewis Norman and musician Steve Bake. Dressed as giant insects, the performers present a series of funny, funky short dances inspired by insect dance moves – from the honeybee’s waggle to the ant’s tremble – accompanied by live rhythmic, electronic music and creature sound effects.

PRISMA by Rotem Weissman
A weird and wonderful dance show for young audiences, inspired by children’s books that open doors to fascinating worlds – PRISMA translates stories, images, and characters into irresistibly fun movement.

25 July

As part of Crawley Fusion Mela, a weekend of celebrations from Crawley Borough Council with funding from Arts Council England.

Shree by Seeta Patel Dance (Southeast Asia) is a compelling solo work that explores the embodiment of Earth as Mother, rooted in the Indian classical dance form Bharatanatyam. Originally performed by Seeta Patel at Sadler’s Wells, this performance is by Indu Panday, a long-standing dancer with the company. At Unit 79/80 County Mall.

On the same day Otempodiz by Ertza Dance (Mozambique/Spain), a dynamic duet exploring time and human connection will be performed in the Atrium, on the ground floor of County Mall. Presented in partnership with Global Streets, with public funding from Arts Council England.

3 & 4 August

Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures arrives in town with Doorstep Duets, a 20 minute dance performance from the world famous company in the town centre, Crawley library and at Cherry Lane Adventure Playground.

11 August

stacked wonky present 55, an age-defying dance work performed in Breezehurst Drive Playing Field. 55 is an unlikely duet for Ernie, 19, and Gerard, 74. There are 55 years between them. Join the performance as it weaves its way through the playing field. You will find Gerard with his “in memoriam” bench looking for a good spot to rest.
