The public showcase marks the culmination of an intensive two-week artistic residency at Stanley Arts, offering audiences the first opportunity to experience these new works fresh from development. HATCHWORK ’26 continues BirdGang Ltd’s mission to champion the next generation of choreographers by providing a platform where artists can explore, experiment, and share innovative ideas with the public for the very first time.
During the residency, the selected artists immerse themselves in a rigorous programme of creative exploration, professional development, and entrepreneurial growth. Participants receive mentorship from BirdGang Ltd’s award-winning Movement Architects and Directors, alongside guidance from specialists in movement, sound, lighting, set design, and business development coaching. This holistic approach enables each choreographer to deepen their craft, refine their artistic identity, and develop the tools needed to shape the future and legacy of their work.
The HATCHWORK programme reflects BirdGang Ltd’s commitment to fostering innovation across hip hop theatre and multidisciplinary art forms. Since its inception, HATCHWORK has become a vital launchpad for early-career artists, supporting the development of groundbreaking work that contributes to the ever-evolving landscape of hip hop theatre and the wider performing arts.
The public showcase, representing the culmination of this intensive 360-degree residency, takes place at Stanley Arts on Saturday, 28th February 2026 at 4pm. With limited capacity, audiences are encouraged to secure tickets early for this one-evening-only event. Be the first to witness these brand new works, presented raw, urgent, and unfiltered from the creative lab.
Alongside the public performance, HATCHWORK ’26 includes a private Industry Showcase on Monday, 2nd March 2026. This invite-only sharing is designed for producers, programmers, funders, venues, and cultural organisations, offering an opportunity to engage directly with the artists and their work-in-progress. The Industry Showcase provides invaluable professional feedback and supports the future development and touring potential of the works.
