Job Description:
Marymount International School, London, is seeking to recruit a Teacher of Dance (0.5 FTE, Fixed Term Contract January to June 2026).
We are seeking an enthusiastic, talented and qualified dancer, to oversee the flourishing dance programme at the School. This role will be part of the Performing Arts Department, comprising of dance, drama and music. The successful candidate will develop and deliver an outstanding IB MYP Dance curriculum to students aged 11 - 16 years and DP Dance to students aged 18 and 18 years old. DP Dance is elected and has run successfully for 3 years.
Experience of teaching in an IB school is preferable. ECTs are welcome to apply.

Subject related responsibilities
- To develop and deliver the IB MYP DANCE curriculum to students in Grades 6 to 10 (Years 7 to 11).
- To coordinate and lead the extra-curricular Dance programme, including:
- To direct and organise Dance events to a high standard as required within the life of the school, including a whole school Dance showcase
- Organisation of Dance outings to see live performance
- Run a specialist extra-curricular Dance club
- To work flexibly within the Performing Arts department and offer support as required
- Support, manage and maintain the private extra-curricular dance lessons, including knowledge of acrobatic arts, RAD and ISTD Grades and Rambert Contemporary Grades.
- Choreography for liturgical events
- To offer physical wellness (yoga, mindfulness) sessions to students and staff
- To understand and embed IB ‘Approaches to Learning’ in all aspects of the Dance curriculum.
- To promote creative thinking and regular involvement in the performing arts as part of a balanced life.
- To work collaboratively with the Chair of Department, and other members of faculty to identify and support meaningful interdisciplinary links with other subjects.
- To differentiate instruction to meet students’ learning needs and styles.
- To participate in ongoing subject-specific professional development to keep abreast of developments within Dance teaching, to explore and develop further personal interests and specialisms, and to deepen knowledge and understanding of pedagogical approaches.
- To create a stimulating learning environment based on understanding and respect that engages students in reflecting on how, what and why they are learning.
- To integrate technology effectively into all aspects of teaching and learning.
- To willingly support the extra-curricular life of the Performing Arts Department through weekly ensembles, rehearsals, clubs, trips and educational tours.
- To be open to learning new skills and techniques that will complement and enhance the Dance curriculum.
- To promote, model and teach the attributes of the IB Learner Profile.
