You’ve been asked to teach dance as a primary school teacher… but you’ve never actually taught dance before. Where do you even start?
Dance sits within the national curriculum for Physical Education in England and provides a unique opportunity for children to combine physical activity with creativity and artistry. In our 90-minute online CPD, we will demystify dance education, introduce key terminology and provide you with a variety of practical, engaging strategies to use in your lessons straight away
In the session we will:
Examine what is unique about dance in schools, exploring what dance education is - and isn't!
Build a foundation of knowledge for the key ingredients of dance – action, space, dynamics, and relationships – and what these aspects look like in a lesson
Explore the core components of choreography, performance and appreciation, first defining each component before practically participating in tasks and discussion linked lesson planning and assessment
Consider a wide range of themes, starting points and ideas for units of work that will engage your students and enable you to deliver content with confidence!
