Elixir Festival 2026 | Kontakthof - Echoes of '78

Meryl Tankard creates a new encounter with Pina Bausch's seminal work Kontakthof. Almost five decades later nine of the original dancers return to their roles in a poignant interaction between past and present.

Premiered in 1978, Kontakthof is a seminal piece in Pina Bausch’s repertoire. It is said that Pina often mused on the idea of seeing her original cast dance the piece when older. Now, almost five decades later, Meryl Tankard, one of the main characters in 1978, has created a new enounter with Kontakthof, Kontakthof – Echoes of ’78.
