Urdang Academy Launches New Inclusive Scholarship
The Urdang Academy, one of the UK’s most diverse Dance and Musical Theatre Academies, based in London, is launching a new full-fee scholarship system designed to be more inclusive and create more opportunity for talented young people to have access to the best training.
Funds have been fully-secured for the new scholarship system, and will be allocated entirely according to talent. This new approach will ensure that young people with exceptional raw talent, and not just those from very low-income households, will be able to access funding to cover course fees and benefit from the very best professional training.
The new full-fee scholarship will create an opportunity for students aged 16 to 18 years (inclusive) to take the first step on their professional Dance and Musical Theatre training.
Students who successfully gain a place on the Diploma in Professional Musical Theatre or Dance will be able to apply for a funding scholarship to cover 100% of the course fees. This builds on the success of the Advanced Learner Loan (ALL) that is available for students aged 19 years and over. The Urdang Academy is one of just three performing arts colleges that offer the ALL to students.
Solange Urdang CEO of Urdang Academy comments “I am thrilled to launch this new scholarship, which is clearly aligned to the Urdang ethos of recognising talent regardless of size, race, height, social-economic status or ethnicity. It will allow us to be more inclusive, will create more opportunity and will allow more talented kids to get the best professional training at the right time in their education”
