U.Dance 2016 a big success

12 Jul 2016

U.Dance 2016, the nation’s annual youth dance festival, took place at The Lowry and University of Salford from 8-10 July. We welcomed over 500 young dancers from around the country to perform, take part in workshops and career sessions, and develop their skills and love for the art form.

Across three evenings at a packed Lowry, the North West Centre for Advanced Training, the National Youth Dance Companies of England and Scotland and 19 selected groups performed in a variety of styles, from hip-hop to contemporary to classical Indian style Bharathanatyam. Richard Alston CBE, One Dance UK’s Champion of U.Dance, introduced one of the evenings and praised the young people’s creativity and skill level.

We would like to thank all the partners of the event, our generous funders and donors, and especially the army of volunteers and dance ambassadors that made the event such a success. See you in Birmingham for U.Dance 2017!

U.Dance 2016 was presented in partnership with The Lowry, and generously supported by Arts Council England, The Boparan Charitable Trust, Mariana Kleinwort Charitable Trust, the Robert Gavron Charitable Trust and The Granada Foundation and One Dance UK’s Principal Sponsor, Harlequin Floors.
