The Place’s London Contemporary Dance School and UAL announce partnership
Building on twenty years of collaboration, University of the Arts London (UAL) and London Contemporary Dance School (LCDS) at The Place have taken the next step toward a closer relationship by signing a validating partnership agreement. From September 2021, UAL will be the validating authority for the LCDS’ undergraduate and postgraduate programmes which see its students graduate amongst a London-wide network of artists and makers.
Both organisations share the ambition to put the primary focus on the independent artist to create an unprecedented vision for a world with more dance and creativity. This partnership provides a springboard for a closer future with the potential to combine world-leading research and the creation of new performance territories across visual and performing arts.
Clare Connor, The Place CEO says: “Our collective ambition is for students to graduate as part of a global network and community of interdisciplinary artists who operate at the cutting edge of dance alongside creative practitioners in fine art, fashion, design. Amidst new digital and performance platforms we believe our graduating students will shape the future of the arts and the creative industries.”
Sir Nigel Carrington, UAL Vice-Chancellor says: “UAL and LCDS not only share a long history of collaboration but also a belief in the enormous value of creativity. We hope to build on this partnership and foster an even greater alliance – the benefits of which will be felt by students at both institutions.”
