Summer programme announced at The Place

One Dance UK member, The Place, is excited to share their summer programme. While The Place’s summer is always the season to celebrate future talent and showcase students and graduates of London Contemporary Dance School, the theatre programme continues to seek out the most innovative British and international dance artists to present bold and thought-provoking work on their stage.

Highlights of the season include:

  • 17 & 18 May: Seeta Patel, The Rite of Spring in the classical Indian dance style Bharatanatyam
  • 18 – 22 June: Lost Dog’s Juliet & Romeo returns after extensive and hugely successful touring. The performances at The Place this summer will be the last chance for London audiences to catch Olivier-nominated choreographer Ben Duke performing in this work
  • 31 May, 4 and 7 June: A Festival of Korean Dance returns – visit our news post about it
  • The Place performing at Latitude Festival and the Edinburgh Fringe

The full programme includes:

  • 8 & 9 May: Camden Primary Schools Festival, involving 450 local children from nine Partner Schools from The Place’s Partner School Programme
  • 11 May: Both, Two, Vera Tussing & Esse Vanderbruggen
  • 14 & 15 May: The Way You Look (at me) Tonight, Claire Cunningham and Jess Curtis
  • 17 & 18 MayThe Rite of Spring, Seeta Patel
  • 22 & 23 May: Postgraduate Choreography, from London Contemporary Dance School’s postgraduates Greta Gauhe, Alicja Nauman and Shelley Owen
  • 24 May: International Exchange, EDGE Dance Company & Bodhi Project
  • 25 May: International Exchange, Northern School of Contemporary Dance’s postgraduate company Verve
  • 29 May: BROUHAHA, Lola Maury
  • 31 May, 4 & 7 June: A Festival of Korean Dance
  • 14 & 15 June: No Woman’s Land, Boarder Crossings’ Origins Festival presents Ava Dance Company
  • 18 – 22 June: Juliet & Romeo, Lost Dog
  • 25 – 27 June: Me, Myselfie and I, Sea of Detail and 9 Minutes created by EDGE Dance Company’s Hagit Yakira, Fabio Liberti and Jorge Crecis
  • 5 – 12 July: Graduate Performances from London Contemporary Dance School graduates in collaboration with independent artists including Holly Blakey, Samir Kennedy, Eve Stainton & Florence Peake and marikiscrycrycry
  • 19 July: Latitude Festival in Suffolk
  • 20 July: Family Dance Day
  • 3 August: Summer Showcase presented by The Place’s Centre for Advanced Training (CAT)
