Spring/Summer season at Riley Theatre

30 Mar 2016

Spring/Summer season has officially arrived at Riley Theatre. As we celebrate 30 years of NSCD, and begin to reminisce, we take great pleasure in announcing a stellar season of performances that champion the next generation of rising stars and emerging dance talent.

VERVE launched the season with a world premiere of their 2016 tour, a fast-paced, athletic and experimental selection of dance works, performed by 12 dancers, each on the cusp of promising careers. Be sure to look out for them performing at venues across the UK over the coming months (or catch them in Leeds as they return to Riley Theatre with a stunning Finale in June!)

Student showcase week, in March, is the perfect opportunity to see original new work by professional choreographers, commissioned especially for current students at NSCD. This year, choreographers include NSCD graduate Jamaal Burkmar, (winner of the 2015/16 New Adventures Choreographer Award), Suzie Davies (The Norwegian Opera and Ballet), Mattias Ekholm (Ingun Bjørnsgaard Prosjekt) and Anna Williams (Vincent Dance Theatre), along with Hannes Langholf (DV8 Physical Theatre), Laila Diallo (Royal Opera House) and the hugely successful Hagit Yakira (Hagit Yakira Dance).

Finally, keep an eye out for Graduation performances in July, as NSCD say goodbye to another year of outstanding, intelligent and inspirational young dancers graduating from the three year contemporary dance degree programme. Four unmissable evenings featuring work devised and produced by the students themselves in addition to a range of visiting dance artists.

Kick back and relax this season as Riley Theatre brings you some of the best up-and-coming performance talent that the School and the city of Leeds has to offer.
