Why do you do it? Combating cigarette smoking among dancers

Smoking is an insidious and powerful habit. Research regularly shows us that smoking onset is usually during the adolescent years and involves a complex interaction of factors that include knowledge, attitudes, social influences, and personality. What this tells us is that the dependence or addiction of cigarettes begins early, and by the time the smoker has become aware of their psychological and physical dependence, breaking the habit is decidedly difficult.
