We have been providing physiotherapy services for a London Dance Academy for four and a half years. In the third year we noticed that knee injuries were increasing year by year. Lower limb injuries are common in dancers and result mostly from overuse. The students study musical theatre dance over three years for a national diploma in performing arts. Knee injuries over three academic years 2003-2006 accounted for an average 21% of physiotherapy treatments.
