Filming your work, shows or choreography is a great way of recording what you have done, or marketing and promoting a current show.

The technical issues involved in filming can be complex and having at least a basic understanding of them helps when you are briefing a cameraman. Below are some guidelines and information which might help.

Originally written for Dance UK by Deveril, a freelance film-maker who wrote these notes in response to choreographers’ questions about filming their work.

This sheet contains information on the technical issues involved in creating a show reel of dance work which is of special interest to choreographers. Deveril’s contact details can be found at the bottom of the document.
