Rambert Grades online teacher training programme
Rambert Grades is a pioneering new contemporary dance syllabus and a landmark collaborative partnership between Rambert dance company and Rambert School. Rambert Grades will move contemporary dance training forwards, with an inclusive mission to be accessible for people from all backgrounds.
Carefully designed with an unequivocally holistic approach at its heart, the syllabus foregrounds creative freedom, individuality, personal interpretation and transferable skills.
Online teacher training is now underway, and applications are open for anyone wishing to qualify as registered Rambert Grades Teachers from Grades 1 to 8.
Why teach Rambert Grades?
Rambert Grades is emphatically about freedom of expression and the enjoyment of dance and assessment criteria is reflective of the pedagogical principles which underpin this philosophy. With inclusivity at its heart, the Grades are accessible to all ages, abilities and bodies regardless of ability and prior experience of formal dance training.
The Rambert Grades syllabus has been developed by a team of industry experts with additional solo material created by internationally renowned choreographers Hofesh Shechter, Benoit Swan Pouffer and Alesandra Seutin.
The syllabus’s content is therefore informed by the stylistic diversity of the current contemporary dance landscape with material articulated around three pillars of execution: performance, creativity and technique. Material is revisited and refreshed periodically keeping the sequences and solos relevant and exciting to learn and all accompanying music for the Grades’ sequences and choreography will be selected by teachers in collaboration with their students.
Rambert Grades is accredited by The Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulations (Ofqual).
How the Rambert Grades Teacher Training Programme works
Taking place over two months, with modules running throughout the year, the online training programme blends independent and guided learning through pre-recorded video content, webinars and online group sessions.
The first four week phase is self guided study, with webinars and discussion groups facilitated by the Rambert Grades creative team. The second four week phase includes online taught group sessions to reinforce learnings, led by leading contemporary dance practitioners.
This teacher training is ideal for existing dance teachers, PE teachers teaching dance in school (or wanting to start teaching dance in school), dance graduates or professional dancers with teaching experience. In order to become a Registered Teacher with Rambert Grades you must be able to evidence your Level 4/HE Diploma or above dance teaching qualification or combination of dance and teaching qualifications; or you can submit evidence to demonstrate how your experience meets this criteria.
