Dance of the African Diaspora

One Dance UK is here to support everyone in the national dance sector.

The DAD team has a specific focus on supporting, amplifying, celebrating, and building stronger and resilient communities of practitioners from, and working in, Dance of the African Diaspora. We understand our support encompasses both communities and practitioners that connect with the lived heritage – and those who connect to the dance forms rooted in – the African Diaspora.

We value healthy debate – acknowledging that the historical, political, and cultural context in which dance practices from Africa and its Diaspora exist are complex and nuanced.

As sector support, we actively encourage discourse over definition, labels, and aesthetics within the evolving sector. We welcome conversations that help us, and the sector, thrive, grow and be more diverse.
