One Dance UK announces new Expert Panel: Children and Young People
One Dance UK is pleased to announce the launch of a new Expert Panel: Children and Young People’s Dance. This marks a significant development in One Dance UK’s on-going work to provide as many dance opportunities as possible for young people.
The Expert Panel: Children and Young People was created as a result of One Dance UK’s recently acquired status as the Subject Association for Dance and contributes to One Dance UK’s role in creating projects and events for children and young people, as well as providing training opportunities and support for dance teachers.
The Expert Panel came into being on 1 April 2016 and its first meeting takes place in May.
Senior dance educationalist Mel Knott B.Ed (Hons) has been appointed Executive Chair of the Expert Panel and has been closely involved in the recruitment of members, to ensure that the relevant disciplines are represented within the membership of the Panel.
Nine people have been appointed, comprising dance educationalists and youth dance specialists:
Sujata Banerjee, Ginny Brown, Liz Dale, Laura Kendall, Stephen Mason, Carla Price, Fiona Smith, Elsa Urmston and Jasmine Wilson.
The Panel’s role will be to advise and support One Dance UK in its work with, for and by children and young people and as the Subject Association for Dance. Members will provide advice and recommendations regarding strategy and policy direction for One Dance UK, including projects and programmes of work, partnerships and responding to government initiatives.
