ODUK responds as the grade boundaries for BTEC Tech Awards are raised – shortly before students are due to receive their results.

As the Subject Association for Dance we are aware of the recent announcement from Pearson (the UK’s largest awarding body) of changes to grade boundaries for a number of BTEC qualifications, including Performing Arts. We understand that this has caused enormous concern and distress to teachers and students and we are alarmed by the timing of the announcement, just a week before results day.

We advise our members who have been affected to communicate directly with Pearson to share their concerns. Alternatively we are happy to pass on feedback on behalf of One Dance UK members. We are in touch with Pearson to gain a further understanding of the rationale behind such a decision and will share any further information and advice with our members as we receive it.

We would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the hard work and resilience of our teacher members in this challenging situation and to thank you for continuing to advocate for Dance in education.

If you are a One Dance UK Member and would like further information or advise on this issue, please email info@onedanceuk.org and we will do our best to assist.
