New Staff Members

19 Mar 2020

The One Dance UK team is growing! We would like to offer a warm welcome to our two new members of staff! Want to get to know them a little better? Read on…

Meet our new Business Development and Membership Assistant, Amelia Bickley (left)…

Amelia is passionate about dance research which explores the dialogue between gender identity, sexuality and religion, and its impact on artistic and political platforms. An eager creative, she has produced her own choreographic work which was featured at the MOVE IT dance exhibition in London 2019. Amelia also co-choreographed and danced in a piece that was subsequently picked up and featured by Madonna on her personal Instagram profile, and viewed by her 13.8m followers. Amelia is currently part of a Mambo and Salsa dance group based in London. She also teaches both contemporary, latin and salsa technique as a freelancer across Birmingham and London. Teaching is something she has a passion for; in her classes she encourages personality and individual expression.

“I am honoured to work with One Dance UK as they played such an active part in my recovery journey when I was injured through performance. I feel incredibly lucky to now form part of the organisation and look forward to expand, build, and support dancers, institutions and businesses across the U.K.”

Meet our new Administrator for Dance of the African Diaspora (DAD), Tamar Dixon (right)…

Tamar has been proactive in developing her skills and profile in community dance and arts education and deepening her knowledge of her dance specialisms – urban contemporary, creative movement, hip hop and African- Caribbean dance practices. International cultural exchange and networking are central to her strategy for growth. Her curiosity for the world of dance, has led her to running her own company, ‘Unique Movez Dance Collective‘, where she aims to elevate and engage the DAD community. In 2020, Tamar plans to produce her first podcast-interview series called ‘INSiGHTZ: An insight into your dance journey’,  a weekly series of interviews with a diverse range of dancers, from students, choreographers to producers, discussing dance and culture from a global perspective.

“I am thrilled to be working with One Dance UK, considering that I started off as a student member, to now be working along-side industry professionals – this is my highlight for 2020!”
