Melanie Precious to be the new Chief Executive Officer at Greenwich Dance

21 Jun 2018

Member Greenwich Dance announces the appointment of Melanie Precious as its new Chief Executive Officer from September 2018.

Melanie joins Greenwich Dance after two years as Creative Producer with Luca Silvestrini’s Protein having previously worked on organisational and artist development, learning and participation for a number of dance organisations including Sadler’s Wells, Hofesh Shechter Company, ZooNation, DanceEast, and The Place. She is a trustee at Alexander Whitley Dance Company.

The Board of Trustees at Greenwich Dance is delighted that Melanie will be leading the organisation in this new exciting new phase.

Melanie says: “My vision for Greenwich Dance is for a vibrant, confident and agile organisation that continues to develop opportunities to make, watch and participate in dance regardless of age, experience or background. I think Greenwich Dance is on a new and immensely exciting course which will allow the organisation to better serve the people and artists in the community where it is based. For me, community and professional dance are inextricably intertwined and the ecology of dance can’t be truly supported if an organisation chooses to focus on one alone. Therefore, alongside our community based programme, we will continue to find ways to build upon the strong reputation Greenwich Dance has in the development of artists and their work.

I do not foresee Greenwich Dance being without its own dance space for very long and I see this interim period as an opportunity for imagination, innovation and the development of deep community engagement and stronger partnerships.
