|Job title||Trainee Deputy Artists|
The Place, London’s creative powerhouse for dance development, has been leading the way in dance training, creation and performance for 50 years. In a changing landscape, our vision for the future is steadfast: we are powering imagination through dance, championing new ideas, embracing risks and creating optimal conditions for dance artists and enthusiasts to realise their full potential.
We are now looking to recruit dance artists (of any dance genre) to work on our Partner School programme as Trainee Deputy Artists. You do not need any teaching experience to apply but must be interested in working with children within a school setting.
The Partner Schools programme at The Place, now in its fourth year, works with 14 primary schools across Camden. For many children, our programme will be the first time they encounter dance, giving our artists the opportunity to inspire and encourage a future generation of dancers and art makers. We also work closely with teachers to develop their confidence and skill level of teaching dance within the school curriculum.
You can find out more about the Partner Schools programme here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YohVA0yfLTA.
Starting in February our team of artists teach creative movement workshops in school. Each Partner School works with a Lead and Deputy Artist who create a dance over eight weeks to be performed in May at The Place. We are looking for artists who are interested in learning more about working with young children in schools to join the programme as Trainee Deputy Artists. As a Trainee Deputy Artist, you will be able to participate in the sessions, shadow our experienced dance artists, learn how to support school teachers and develop your own teaching pedagogy.
