Job Description

Studio Wayne McGregor is looking for a creative and dynamic Dance Animateur to establish and deliver a new programme of dance activity for its local community in and around Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. Building on Wayne McGregor’s personal history as a dance animateur in east London, and the first year of Studio Wayne McGregor’s operation of its new space in the Park, this new role will build a network of partnerships and establish a sustainable, wide-reaching programme of high quality dance activity that positively impacts on the local community across the fields of education, health and wellbeing, and community cohesion.

The right candidate will be self-motivated and able to work under their own initiative, as they will be tasked with building on existing partnerships as well as creating new ones, raising awareness of Studio Wayne McGregor within the local community, and creating and practically delivering bespoke projects co-authored with partners. The Dance Animateur will also work with FreeSpace artists to create a programme that benefits the local community.

Studio Wayne McGregor is the creative engine for choreographer and director Wayne McGregor, and the home of his life-long choreographic enquiry into thinking through and with the body. It encompasses the development and touring of signature works on Company Wayne McGregor (Resident Company at Sadler’s Wells); a portfolio of international commissions and artistic collaborations across genres including dance, visual arts, film, theatre and opera; a highly specialized programme of learning and engagement for individuals and communities; artist development initiatives; and collaborative research projects across the interface of the arts with science, technology and academic research. Since 2017 Studio Wayne McGregor has also run its own studio spaces at Here East in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

Salary: £28,000 – £30,000 per annum depending on experience. This is a full time post.
