Job Description

Services of a choreographer are needed for our pantomime production of Aladdin, written and directed by Ben Crocker at The Roses Theatre, Tewkesbury-Christmas 2019/2020

The Choreographer shall be responsible for the following:

(i) Liaising with dance schools and the Roses regarding the recruitment of chorus performers.
(ii) Leading the chorus audition day at the Roses Theatre (Sunday 15th September 2019).
(iii) Choreographing the performers and chorus to achieve the overall artistic concept of the production, in traditional family pantomime style, in collaboration with the Director.

The Production shall be rehearsed from Monday 11th November to Tuesday 26th November 19, excluding Sunday 17th & 24th November. Technical rehearsals will take place from Wednesday 27th November to Saturday 30th November in The Roses Theatre.

The first performance will take place on Saturday 30th November 19 at 5:45pm and the last performance on Saturday 4th January 20 at 5.00pm. There are 55 performances in total.

The Choreographer must have a current DBS check in place prior to the start of rehearsals.

The Choreographer’s services shall be exclusively available to the Manager from the first day of rehearsals until the first performance. The Choreographer will be expected to visit the production at least once during the run to give notes to the chorus.

The choreographer accepts that this is a contract for freelance work and is responsible for his/her own National Insurance contributions and payments to the Inland Revenue. Proof of self-employment (such as tax reference number or letter from accountant) needs to be supplied to The Manager.

There is not a pension scheme under this contract.
