One Dance UK’s Healthier Dancer Programme and Project Breakalign will be offering a free mental health workshop, online injury support advice and a video on Hip-hop conditioning and safe practice for staying injury-free for this year’s special Breakin’ Convention Festival online!

Hip-hop Conditioning and safe practice with Nefeli Tsouiti of Project Breakalign

    • Who it’s for: Open to all freelance creatives
    • About the video: The recorded session will include the do’s and don’t’s for hip-hop dancers, regarding safe practice during lockdown home training session. During this period, many dancers have been training from home, and Project Breakalign will offer advice on what is safe to do and what is not as safe, by also providing advice on how to make your home training space safer. Advice will begiven for space adjustments, as well as training content, frequency, variability.
    • About Nefeli: Founder & Director of Project Breakalign, Dance Scientist & Researcher, Choreographer, Sports Massage Therapist, Physical Therapy student. Project Breakalign, an international research project that has been running since 2013, specifically geared for hip-hop dancers, aims to prevent injuries and educate via research which has been conducted on Breakers and Hip-hop dancers generally. The Project Breakalign team, comprised of bboys/bgirls and dancers who are also scientists, specializes on bridging the gap between the dance art and science/injury

    • About the workshop: When a living organism gets its needs met then it will thrive. For mental health, humans have emotional needs. During the course of this interactive workshop, delegates will explore what these needs are and how nature has given us the power to get these needs met.
      We have the power to know things and then act upon our knowledge and when we know what our needs are then we are better positioned to thrive and be mentally well.
