Free Teacher Training Programme with The Language of Dance Centre

1 Feb 2019

One Dance UK member, The Language of Dance Centre (LODC), is very pleased to announce that they have received a generous grant from the Garfield Weston Foundation, which enables them to get started with the free Teacher Training Programme they launched to celebrate their 50th anniversary.

After years of successfully delivering dance tuition to primary school and SEN school children, the LODC has designed the Level 1 Award in Language of Dance® Movement Exploration, an accessible dance award that focused on the individual exploration of movement and on the use of symbols as a starting point for creativity, and that could be achieved by students of all abilities. The Award, accredited by the national awarding body NCFE in 2015, has already been successfully achieved by several mainstream and SEN students.

On the occasion of their 50th anniversary, the LODC is now aiming to give free training to 50 teachers across the UK who wish to deliver the Level 1 Award, with the ultimate aim of giving an ever-increasing number of students of all abilities and backgrounds the opportunity to achieve an accredited qualification in dance, with all its intrinsic benefits.

Thanks to the generosity of the Garfield Weston Foundation, the LODC is starting the programme with a course in London and one in Bradford, both to be held between January and March 2019.

Applications for the London course are now closed, but there is time until January 30 to apply for the Bradford course.
