Fertile Ground grows; new Artistic Directors announced
Fertile Ground proudly announces the appointment of Malgorzata Dzierzon and Renaud Wiser as the new Artistic Directors of the company, taking over from Founding Artistic Director Dora Frankel.
Malgorzata and Renaud have collaborated on a number of prestigious projects and bring to Fertile Ground exceptional choreographic artistic vision, leadership and curatorial ambition. Both are members of New Movement Collective, a London-based Associate Company to Rambert Dance, and have worked internationally as well as closer to the Fertile Ground stomping ground in the North East. Malgorzata was commissioned by Fertile Ground in 2016, creating Eight Steps, which toured as part of Dancing The Road; Renaud recently choreographed a work with the Dance City CAT programme as well as being a recipient of Dance City commissions in 2013 and 2015.
Founding Artistic Director Dora Frankel said: “We had a fantastic response to the advertisement for the post. It’s wonderful to have not one but two highly accomplished artists who have the skills, the knowledge and the passion to take the company forward.”
“I am thrilled to be part of the future of Fertile Ground. I have long been an admirer of Dora and the work she has done. I look forward to widening the international and national links and being part of the North East Dance ecology.”
Renaud added: “Fertile Ground represents something we are both passionate about- supporting young and emerging dance artists and making work that excites audiences. We look forward to creating performances in unusual spaces and continuing the great work that has already been started.”
