Coming to Birmingham Hippodrome, U.Dance 2017 will showcase the tremendous talent of young dancers, who have been selected from across the country to perform.
The festival will include three public performances and tickets are now available via the Birmingham Hippodrome website.
The Performances, Birmingham Hippodrome:
- Friday 14 July, 7.30pm
West Midlands-based Motionhouse Youth will share the stage for the opening performance with National Youth Dance Company, London’s Impact Youth, Edinburgh-based Ihayami Youth Collective, Hampshire Youth Dance Company, Northampton School for Boys, Northampton’s Dance2 (Advanced Company), Brighton’s Ceyda Tanc Youth Dance and London-based ‘inclusive’ group, SLiDE.
- Saturday 15 July, 7.30pm
The National Youth Dance Company of Scotland will be joined for the second performance by DanceXchange – Centre for Advance Training (Birmingham), Kidderminster’s Ignite Dance Company, Cambridge Youth Dance Company, Brighton’s Penny and Jules Youth Dance, Manchester’s Pointe Youth Dance Company, St Austell’s Undefined Dance Company, Division from Newcastle and three Yorkshire-based groups: High Storrs Dance Company, Momentum Dance and ‘inclusive’ group, Me2 Inclusive Youth Dance Company.
- Sunday 16 July, 5pm
The closing performance includes Birmingham’s ACE Youth, National Youth Dance Wales, Fylde Coast Youth Dance Company, Nottingham’s Next Door Dance Company, Aberdeenshire’s Re:Volution Youth Dance Company, Lancaster’s Ludus Youth Dance Company, D+ ‘inclusive’ group from Durham and from the Republic of Ireland, Company B

Local Participation across the U.Dance Weekend
To celebrate the U.Dance 2017 national festival coming to Birmingham, DanceXchange and Birmingham Hippodrome have two opportunities for youth and school dance groups to take part in a U.Dance 2017 engagement programme:
- The Schools’ Challenge ’17 includes taster workshops and an opportunity for school groups to perform on Friday 14 July in the Patrick Centre, before watching the main stage U.Dance 2017 performance.
- Youth dance group leaders have the opportunity to explore choreographic and developmental ideas for their groups during a practical training day. Their groups will have the chance to come and see the Saturday 15 July performance on the Hippodrome Main Stage.
