Preparing to Fly

Sunday 11 March, 2-5pm

Dance Base, Edinburgh

The physical, mental and aesthetic requirements of aerial arts and acrobatics can be challenging. Ensuring you are fully prepared for these demands will help to reduce the risk of injury.

At this three-hour event, we discussed the various components of fitness (including balance, cardiovascular fitness, flexibility, strength, endurance and rest); how to structure training effectively for aerial arts and acrobatics; hypermobility; and how to complete a thorough warm-up and cool down.

The session ended with a practical workshop to embody the taught content and consolidate strategies to ensure future practice had a reduced risk of injury, allowing participants to further enjoy their time in the air!

Preparing to Fly was hosted by One Dance UK and All or Nothing Aerial Dance Theatre.
