Pegg Studio Theatre,
Bristol University Student Union
Is making more new work part of your your new year resolution? Open Stage, our platform for works in progress, is back in March.
Open Stage is our regular informal platform for work in progress. We invite artists working with dance of the African Diaspora to present their work in a studio setting to a small audience. The aim of the event is to provide a safe, supportive environment for artists to test out new ideas. The platform is open to artists at any stage of their career, but is particularly useful for emerging choreographers
Open Stage is open to dance artists age 16 upwards working in all dance genres of black origin who wish to share their works in progress and gain feedback from their peers. This sharing will take place in a studio setting and the guideline for length of works is 7 – 20 minutes.
Open Stage follows on from the Bristol University Conference earlier in the day Framing the Critical Decade; After the Black Arts Movement which features Yassmin Foster speaking on The Black Dancing Body versus the Black Dance Form.
