Join us on Saturday 21 March for LAUNCH– a one-day event giving the next generation of dance professionals the chance to get a unique insight into life as a professional within the dance sector and make the best choices when it comes to your career.
LAUNCH will provide hands-on, practical advice from both emerging and established dance professionals, all of whom boast impressive careers including dancers, producers, scientists, managers and educators. This is an unmissable opportunity for development and networking for both students and recent graduates to delve into the diverse aspects of a career within the dance sector, and to talk about the things that matter. Topics covered include money, health and development – everything you need to know to give you the best grounding for your future career.
This one-day platform, organized by One Dance UK is supported by Creative Scotland and hosted at Dance Base in Edinburgh.
1: How Dance Organisations & Creative Scotland Can Support You
This session will give you an insight into the support and opportunities available to you as dancers, with information from Creative Scotland about applying for arts funding.
2: Finance for Dancers
What pay are you legally entitled to, and what should you look out for in your contracts? This session will give you practical advice on managing your finances and your legal obligations as a freelancer.
3: Look After Yourself, Look After Your Career
Top tips on staying fit and health as dance professionals in all areas, such as how to avoid burnout, managing your mental health, and accessing affordable specialist healthcare for dancers.
4: Quickfire Questions
Speed-dating with a twist, a chance to ask direct questions and get advice from our guest speakers from across the dance sector, including performers, healthcare specialists, educators, and managers.
