Dance Summer Lab. Professional Practice

One Dance UK member, Middlesex University are holding their Dance Summer Lab, Professional Practice August Intensive which is a five-day CPD creative laboratory. This lab will support artists developing creative ideas in movement as well as creative and academic writing skills.

The Dance Summer Lab, will respond to the needs of movement practitioners making transitions in their career, such as how to effectively translate movement-based practice into writing in creative ways.

The Dance Summer Lab is aimed at those who are:

  • Undertaking somatic based study
  • Returning to academia after a break or beginning academic study
  • Writing a project proposal
  • Working in FE or HE having come through a professional performance career

The Dance Summer Lab will explore ideas with a mix of practical studio movement classes and academic writing-based sessions. Each day will begin with a somatic based movement class, these are GYROKINESIS and/or Bartenieff Fundamentals. The lab will develops practitioner’s movement and written languages through a stronger awareness of body-mind connection in order to access practical knowing when creating new work.

When: 19 – 23 August 2019

Where: Middlesex University, Hendon, London UK
