Celebrating 50 years of the Language of Dance Centre and her 99th birthday, world-renowned dance notation expert and author Dr. Ann Hutchinson Guest will be hosting events at the Royal Academy of Dance in London on Saturday 28 October.

Dr. Ann Hutchinson Guest founded the innovative dance charity Language of Dance Centre (LODC) 50 years ago. Over the five decades, LODC has spread around the world from London and New York to Japan and Mexico. The UK charity focuses on making movement and dance accessible to all.

On Saturday 28 October 2017, LODC will welcome a feast of international dance experts to celebrate Ann’s enormous talent and success over the years with her team in London and around the world.

There will be a free workshop offering people of all ages and abilities the chance to experience the charity’s world-famous Language of Dance approach to movement. There will also be presentations from a panel of international Language of Dance experts.

Dr Guest, who will be 99 next month, said:

“I’ve danced and studied dance for many years and have experienced first-hand the many benefits it can offer, from helping to build self-confidence to encouraging self-expression. It really is something that can and should be available to all, particularly the young.  I hope to reach more people through our work. I would encourage anyone interested to come along to the free workshop to find out more and try it out for themselves.”

The charity will also be marking its special 50th anniversary with the offer of 50 bursaries for teachers who would like to get the necessary training to deliver the charity’s accredited Level 1 Award in Language of Dance Movement Exploration, specifically designed to be accessible to young people with special educational needs but also applicable in community, primary and secondary school settings.

The workshop will be held at the Royal Academy of Dance, 36 Battersea Square, London SW11 3RA. It is free to attend, but places must be reserved in advance. Book your place today.
