Commission Call Out for Outdoor Dance Launched by The Place, GDIF and DanceEast
Stomping Ground is a new project commissioning dance for outdoor spaces in 2018/19.
The Place, GDIF and DanceEast are coming together to commission bold and original dance for outdoor spaces. There are two £15k commissions available; one for a show to be presented in summer 2018, and one for a show which will be ready to present in 2019.
The commissions will be awarded for innovative ideas that experiment with form and respond to the changing landscapes of towns or cities and how we live, work and play in those spaces. The work should be adaptable to its location and have the potential to be presented across a range of spaces. The successful applicants will have strong design ideas and a concept which will create a visceral pull for an audience. The commission will be awarded to UK based dance makers who are interested in working in an interdisciplinary manner and have five years or more experience.
In addition to the commission the partners will provide further producing support, depending on the needs of the project.
“We’re delighted to be working in partnership with GDIF and DanceEast to support the creation of brilliant new dance for the outdoors, which encourages people to look anew at the environment they live or work in”
– Eddie Nixon, Director Theatre and Artist Development, The Place.
The deadline for proposals is Friday 8 September 2017 at 10am, and interviews will be held in London on Monday 23 and Wednesday 25 October. Successful and unsuccessful applicants will be notified by Monday 30 October.
To apply, please fill in the application form. In addition to the questions in the form applicants are also required to create a three minute film.
