A fond farewell
The past year at One Dance UK has been action-packed. We relocated from London to Birmingham, held a glittering awards ceremony, an info-packed conference, a star-studded digital dance festival, and much, much more. This week, we say goodbye to a member of the team who has worked tirelessly on all of these events – our fabulous intern Lauren.
A dance student at the University of Surrey, Lauren started her placement with One Dance UK in July 2019, mere weeks after our relocation, and spent a year with us working on our major projects as part of her course.
The entire team at One Dance UK all want to thank Lauren for all her work, good humour, and positivity… so it’s over to them to say, ‘Thank You, Lauren!’
It is hard to know where to begin when saying ‘thank you’ and ‘well done’ to Lauren! She has been absolutely incredible in all her work and we couldn’t have got through Young Creatives and U.Dance Digital without her. She really is like a magical silent assassin, quietly ploughing on through a complete mountain of work with exemplary attention to detail, thoughtfulness, a flair for creative design and kindness and sensitivity to everyone she meets – and all with a smile on her face too! She is so multi-talented and a complete joy to work with!
Lauren - Thank you so much for everything you have done for the many CYP projects you have worked on this year. You are such a valuable member of the team and we will miss seeing you every day. But we know you will go on to take the world by storm and be completely unstoppable – and we are super proud of you.
Laura Nicholson - Head of Children and Young People
We have been incredibly fortunate to have Lauren with us for a year. Whether it has been working on photoshoots with us (both in front of and behind the camera), putting together graphics, writing thoughtful and interesting content for the site, or helping out in every way imaginable at our major events, Lauren has been there for all of it.
Whilst I’m very sad to see her go, I’m really excited to see what comes next for her. The dance sector is very lucky to have someone like Lauren rising through the ranks and I’m looking forward to seeing her success in the future.
Lara Coffey - Head of Marketing and Communications
Lauren, a huge thank you and well done for all of your incredible work over the last year. Your support across the whole of the One Dance UK team has been invaluable as well as all of your new ideas that you’ve implemented, despite a pandemic trying to get in your way! I promise to look after the CD spreadsheet and keep it as beautiful as it is now for you!! Good luck in your final year of Uni x
Katie Stevens, Office Manager
Lauren, it has been an absolute joy getting to know and work with you these past 6 months. I’m so glad that we were able to collaborate on projects such as the University recruitment trip and the POP videos! You’re such a natural at everything you try your hand at, and thanks to all of your modeling work, you will always be the beautiful face of One Dance UK! I’ll miss our catch-ups and hope we can have an in-person reunion SOON!
Jess Lowe, Administrator Dancers’ Health, Wellbeing and Performance
Little did we know that when we first asked Lauren to assist with U.Dance, that she would be staying with us for the full journey and become the queen of Canva and the Google Form!
Lauren you have been a godsend for U.Dance Digital and for all the other events you’ve worked on – your enthusiasm and hard work has been so important in creating and delivering a huge festival, so you should be really proud. Thank you for all your assistance - I hope you’ve learned a lot and go on to do great things in dance.
Cameron Ball, Special Projects Manager

Lauren! It has been such a pleasure to work with you over the past 9 months! I’ve loved collaborating with you on the Dance Ambassadors Blog and the Choreographer of the Month feature. You’re always full of great ideas and so organised and also just a really positive presence in the office! Thank you for everything you’ve done and good luck with wherever you future takes you, I know you’ll do amazing things!
Chloe Sprackling, Marketing and Communications Assistant
Wishing you all the best for your next steps Lauren! We’ve been so lucky to have you at One Dance UK, it seems like your work has been invaluable to every single department and every single project! You always just get stuck into the job and before you know it, it’s finished! Thank you so much for all your ideas and support for the graduation campaign, I have really benefitted from your insight and perspective. Hopefully this won’t be the last time our paths cross. Also thank you for trying to explain TikTok to me – you’ll be pleased to know I’ve wasted many hours on it during lockdown! Congratulations again on everything you’ve achieved in the last year, can’t wait to see what you do next!
Amy Williams, Dance in Education Manager
Lauren, you’ve been an absolute hero over the past year, and at times a complete lifesaver. From throwing getting stuck in with Re:generations and the awards, through to managing the dance ambassadors and helping keep us all sane with U.Dance and Young Creatives (and doing so from home): we couldn’t have done it without you. Best of luck with your final year at uni, and I know this won’t be the last we’ll see of you (because we all owe you a drink!)
Dann Carroll, Projects Manager
Lauren, what a pleasure it has been to cross paths with you at One Dance UK! It's been short and sweet, and I am gutted that we didn't get to spend much time together physically in the office (a week was it..?) However the time that we did, and through lots of our virtual meetings I would like to say that it has been an absolute pleasure. The team here has only been enriched by your presence and hard-work which is a testament to you as an individual. The time and effort you put into helping me when I started was invaluable (I only hope that we can do the Choreographer Directory justice and carry on your wonderful work!) I cannot wait to see and hear about your future successes, as there is a bright path ahead of you - I hope to receive an invite to your future choreographic showcases so I can cheer you on. Stay in touch.
Amelia Bickley, Business Development and Membership Assistant
Its been an inspiration to see you immerse yourself into the role this past year and achieve what you have - all to such a high and reliable standard, and I am sure you are going to move on and do wonderful things, hopefully within the dance sector but certainly within the UK creative industries. On a personal level I am also saddened to lose a member of the proud left handed team, but we will prevail and move onwards. We will miss you and if ever you fancy dialling in and taking control of the Choreographers Directory again you are welcome. Literally anytime. Please keep in touch!!
Barny Darnell, Membership Manager
I have fond memories of having chats with Lauren when we’ve been a few core members of the team in the office, or before her heading off to a dance class at the end of the day. She’s constantly a friendly, kind person to be around. Lauren has been not only a valuable member of the team, but she’s also become a part of the One Dance UK family.
Erin Sanchez, Manager of Health, Wellbeing and Performance
Lauren it has been a pleasure having you on the team and even though we haven’t sat close in one room, I felt your support. So this is a long distance hug 🤗 from me. Best wishes for your next venture!
