Akademi and One Dance UK in partnership with Sampad and Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance (ISTD), present NAVADAL as part of U.Dance 2017 in Birmingham.

Participants of Akademi’s previous youth dance competitions such as Vidya Patel, have also participated in mainstream platforms like BBC Young Dancer.

“It was a great opportunity to challenge myself to enter another competition after the BBC Young Dancer 2015 award. To perform for judges who were made up of prominent classical South Asian dance artists and from major dance organisations was a huge opportunity and very motivating to receive feedback from them. I would definitely recommend those training in South Asian dance to get involved, challenge yourself and perform!” – Vidya Patel, BBC Young Dancer 2015 finalist & Winner Solo Category Winner in 2016

There are exciting prizes available, including trophies, opportunities to perform at the prestigious Southbank Centre’s Alchemy Festival, a year’s southasiandance.org.uk membership, and more!

Along with this, One Dance UK is offering the opportunity to participate in part of the three-day U.Dance 2017 residency, with access to a masterclass and performances. This part of the residency will take place from 14 – 15 July 2017 and the competition will be held on Saturday 15 July at the Patrick Centre, Birmingham Hippodrome. Young artists between the ages of 11 to 25 years can participate as solos or in groups.

Good news for ISTD students!

Additional awards are available to solo ISTD students aged 11-19 who participate in NAVADAL, based on the technical ability presented in their competition performance. Please see the application form for further details.
