U.Dance National Festival 2018
U.Dance 2018, the nation’s annual youth dance festival will showcase the strength and talent of young dancers from across the country at Jerwood DanceHouse, the East Regions’ premier dance centre. Coming to the East of England for the first time, we are working with DanceEast to make this festival a unique experience. It will enable young dancers from both schools and youth dance groups to participate in workshops, careers sessions and social activities during the two and half day residential.
Our short highlights film from U.Dance 2017, will give you a quick insight into the U.Dance Festival.
What should a dance group expect if they are selected to come to U.Dance 2018?
The festival runs over 2 and half days from 13-15 July. During that time, all participants and their group leaders will be provided with two-nights’ accommodation and all meals from the evening of 13 to lunchtime on 15 July.
All the dancers will participate in a workshop day on the day they’re not performing. This will include the opportunity to explore how digital technologies and dance come together. We also hope to provide some CPD for group leaders during the festival.
Each group will perform on either Saturday 14 July at 7.30pm or Sunday 15 July at 4pm (final times tbc).
Everyone will also get to participate in an evening social, including the opportunity to watch the full-length 2017/18 NYDC production on Friday 13 July.
We expect the festival to close by 5pm to enable groups to travel home.
How much does it cost?
We have arranged a value package with Athena Hall, Student Accommodation, which is about 15 minutes walk from the Jerwood DanceHouse. This has enabled us to keep the cost as low as possible, at £128.80 per person. This covers two nights’ accommodation, dinner on Friday, breakfast, lunch and dinner on Saturday and breakfast and lunch on Sunday.
