Metamorphosis Method Intensive Workshop at Centre 151
Van Huynh Company invites Iratxe Ansa and Igor Bacovich to deliver a week long Dance Intensive at Centre 151. These leading artists bring their internationally renowned Metamorphosis Method to London for the first time, a physical and dynamically challenging movement exploration practice.
Metamorphosis is a process of transformation and growth. It is a process of maturing, whereby dancers become artists. This method leads dancers on a path that calls for disciplined, focused and intelligent hard work. It encourages creativity through guided exploration – a nurtured and trusted environment where artistic knowledge is transferred and explored.
Iratxe is originally from San Sebastian, Spain where she attended the Conservatorio Superior de Musica before graduating from the John Cranko Schule Stuttgart, Germany. She danced with Ballet Basel and Ballet Gulbenkian, and later was a muse for Nacho Duato in the Compañia Nacional de Danza Madrid. Iratxe danced with Lyon Opera Ballet before becoming a member of Nederlands Dance Theatre. She has worked with choreographers such as Nacho Duato, William Forsythe, Jiri Kylian, Mats Ek, Jacopo Godani, Johan Inger, Medhi Walerski, Crystal Pite, Ohad Naharin, Wayne McGregor, and Alexander Ekman, to name a few.
Igor Bacovich is an Italian dancer and choreographer born in Torino, Italy. Igor began his dance studies at the age of 16 at the ballet academy Accademia Nazionale di Danza in Rome, Italy. At the age of 22, he moved to the Netherlands to study at Rotterdam Danse Academie (CODARTS) and specialised in contemporary dance techniques. In the Netherlands, he worked with several choreographers such as Bruno Listopad, Krisztina de Chatel, and Nanine Linning among others.
Since 2016, Van Huynh Company has developed a series of workshops for professionals at its company home base – Centre 151 – inviting leading UK and international artists to deliver intensive teaching programmes.
